2022-2023 New York State Exam Information for Grades 3, 4 and 5

2023 ELA, Math, and Science Exam Details
ELA
•Testing window will take place April 19-April 20 (make-ups will go until April 28)
•Test will consist of 2 days
Math
•Testing window will take place May 2-May 3 (make-ups will go until May 11)
•Test will consist of 2 days
Science
•No Science exam will take place this year.
•Next year, all Grade 5 students will take Science State Exam
Exam Format
•Both ELA and Math State Exams are a combination of Multiple Choice and written response questions.
•Multiple choice questions have 4 options, one of which is correct. Students will mark their answers on a separate bubble sheet.
•Written response questions will be recorded directly in the test booklet.
•Exams are untimed
•States tests are given to measure student knowledge and skills as defined by the grade-level NY Next Generation Learning Standards. They are designed to report student proficiency in 1 of 4 performance levels.
Leading up to the Exams
•Stay on top of homework and review areas of difficulty.
•Check in with teachers for updates about areas of weakness.
•READ, READ, READ!
•Practicable Math Skills.
•Regular routines and schedules.
•Positive messaging and states of mind.
